The brainchild of the Maserati Brothers after their namesake company was sold, OSCA developed four-cylinder racing cars piloted by the likes of Stirling Moss, culminating in the 1954 victory at the 12 hours of Sebring. Only 128 road-going berlinettas were produced, 98 of which were bodied by Zagato.

This is a late-production example of the last car to be hand-built by the Maserati brothers, three years before the closure of their business. It was owned for many years by Toyo Kogyo / Mazda, the Japanese automobile marque, who used it for research and development purposes to effectively inspire later designs like the MX-5 Miata.
